Employment Specialist, Job One

Job Purpose and Overview

Train qualified Job One candidates to find and gain employment where they are valued, empowered to provide for themselves and their family, and experience the soul filling joy of being a productive member of society. Ensure this is accomplished through employment training and placement initiatives that will eventually be operated through local churches in collaboration with local businesses and civic agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit candidates for placement:
    • Coordinate with Job One Manager, churches, nonprofits, community services, colleges, employment agencies and recruiters, media, and internet sources
    • Provide organization information, opportunities, and benefits
  • Establish applicant requirements and refer candidates to churches, nonprofits, and government agencies in an effort to teach self-efficacy
  • Provide candidates support through steps of employment search and placement
  • Provide candidates the tools to complete their own action plan, based on individual barriers, needs, and goals
  • Determine applicant qualifications for available jobs by:
    • Interviewing Applicants
    • Analyzinig Responses
    • Verifying References
    • Comparing qualifications to job requirements
  • Train applicants for hire by using and improving the Success Training material and process
  • Help train churches to implement their own aspects of Success Training programs and participate in Mentor Trainings
  • Coordinate with Job One Manager, or churches’ Mentor Trainings, to pair candidates with mentors
  • Enter candidate information and updates; referrals, challenges, pertinent training, significant dates, employer information, etc. in Infusionsoft and/or current database
  • Assist Job One manager, as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be a believer in Jesus the Christ the Son of God
  • Must be an active, involved regular attendee or member at a local church on a consistent basis
  • Have the demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals, churches, and businesses
  • Must not be reactionary, but have the ability of intuitiveness to assess situations and people
  • Have a demonstrated sense and ability to establish priorities, both personally and professionally
  • Have a sense and know how to navigate with and between multiple cultures
  • Must have demonstrated expertise:
    • With local church dynamics and people
    • In the inner-city environment
    • In knowing how to span the gap between classes
    • In working hard and smart
    • In mentoring, coaching, teaching in a loving way
    • In critical thinking and execution
    • With hard work

Skill Sets

  • Public Speaking and/or eductaing
  • Case management experience
  • Must know how to navigate job boards
  • Input data and update a CRM, Infusionsoft by Keap
  • Strong Administration skills; data entry, experience with Microsoft Suite and Google Suite
  • Workforce Development
  • Flexibility and able to multi-task; can work within a fast-moving, often ambiguous environment, while at the same time driving toward clarity and solutions
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities
  • Guiding investment in people and systems
  • Know how to build business, operations, or relational systems
  • Know how to build relations and collaborate with multiple organizations
  • Know community programs and services in Louisville, or have a strong willingness to learn
  • Innovative thinking and collaborative teaching and learning
  • Be self-aware of personal attribute strengths and weaknesses

Type of Employment

  • Part-time
  • Maximum of 40 hours each month
  • Non-Exempt
