Business Manager - Reports to President

Job Purpose and Overview

The Business Manager provides the leadership and management necessary to ensure that Seed to Oaks (STO) has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, business and people systems in place to effectively grow STO and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Coordinate day-to-day finance operations, liaising with our outsourced accounting firm; including processing deposits, payables, reimbursements, and invoicing
  • Estimate and establishing cost parameters, budgets, campaigns, and potential ROI
  • Review financial reports to improve budgets and annual operating costs

Operations

  • Coordinate with team to develop business plans and strategies to align with STO forecasts and goals
  • Oversee risk management and legal activities: letters of agreement, contracts, and leases
  • Business insurance: procurement, monitoring and management
  • Information technology – ensure the ongoing maintenance and updating of information systems and infrastructure, including hardware, software, and applications
  • Maintain, administer and train others on effective use of platforms and systems, including Salesforce
  • Implement recommendations to improve processes and procedures
  • Build trust and long-term relationships with managers, executives, staff, vendors, and clients

Human Resources

  • Manage and oversee the human resource function for Seed to Oaks, including:
    • Recruitment, hiring, and compensation
    • Benefits administration and oversight
    • Regulatory oversight and legal compliance
  • Ensuring that the human resource function is properly resourced and represented

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration or related field is desired

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal
  2. Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning
  3. Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
  4. Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to STO mission
  5. Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
  6. Understanding of business planning and regulatory issues
  7. A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  8. Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
