Job Skills Training

Job Skills Training

The Need

In Shelby Park, Sojourn Community Church’s neighborhood, a staggering 64% of residents are either unemployed or not in the workforce.  One of our first initiatives is effective job training and employment opportunities.

Our Partners
Seed to Oaks has partnered with Sullivan University and the Dale Carnegie Institute to host our first Job Skills Class starting March 13th.  Classmates will be paired with Sojourn members/deacons/business owners and will walk away with an accredited Professional Development Certificate.

Who Attends
For this class, we registered ladies from local non-profits, residents in Shelby Park, Sojourn benevolence recipients, and a local restaurant who desires to build a better team.

About the class
Classmates will learn to improve human relations skills, strengthen interpersonal relationships, manage stress and handle fast-changing workplace conditions. They will develop more effective communication skills and be better equipped to perform as a persuasive communicator, problem-solver and focused leader. The class is also designed to boost confidence and enthusiasm.
Our instructor is a Sojourn attendee and Sullivan has granted two other Sojourn members through their instructor process.  This gives Seed to Oaks three instructors for future classes, the freedom to share the gospel during the course, and a professional certificate that gives graduates access to new opportunities.
